Thomas Exploring Berchtesgaden, Germany
A lifelong resident of Florida (FloGrown), Thomas O’Hare is proud to call ‘The Land of Flowers’ home. Originally from Orlando before the tourist boom, he savored a small-town environment. For years, he enjoyed the natural, rural, and unspoiled charms Florida possessed. From the Okefenokee down to the Dry Tortugas, he partook in what Florida had to offer. In early 2006, seeking an escape from Orlando's tourist boom, he moved to Salzburg, Austria. The impending financial crisis forced a return to the US in early 2007. Thomas then relocated to Sarasota, Florida, where he currently resides.
In 1964 Thomas was introduced to the world of Clandestine Operations, Jungle Warfare, and Special Forces (SOF) operations. He was featured in LIFE Magazine in 1966 for his military capabilities. This path continued until 1970, when his principles were redirected under the Nixon administration. Their role evolved into more political operations in nature within the United States and foreign countries. During his time with military and clandestine operators, he learned advanced techniques in multiple aspects they employed. He also received detailed training at the US Air Force Academy (USAFA) Survival School. Additionally, he received limited training at the US Army Ranger camp at Eglin Air Force Base. His military and clandestine training was well rounded. During this period, he also had occasional interactions with actual clandestine intelligence and special operations personnel.
Years later, after a long career in the computer field, he began authoring the manuscripts he had always wanted to publish while reflecting on his early experiences and passion for writing. His first manuscript, ‘The Rouge Scarf’, was an accidental discovery during the research for his second title, ‘Tail of the Coin’. During the investigation of a main character, he stumbled upon a series of improbable events that captured his imagination. He analyzed ‘Operation Dragon Rouge’ in its entirety and found an unbelievable set of events.
Thomas discovered that what had seemed unachievable had actually occurred. He began documenting, then authoring, a manuscript consisting of a series of improbable military and human achievements. From the forgotten international operation and in the face of harsh adversity, ‘The Rouge Scarf’ was born.
He continued his original quest and documented the events that now make up ‘Tail of the Coin’. This manuscript is his second work of nonfiction. Early exposure to special operations and secret intelligence agency endeavors fueled his discovery and confirmation of actual events. After 50 years of research, he finally published ‘Tail of the Coin’ in 2025.
All of his endeavors are now available on the Barnes&Noble and Amazon web sites.
One major concern he now shares from his youth is Sarasota’s uncontrolled growth, wetland destruction, and tourist boom. This evoked memories of Orlando’s transformation from a small town into a tourist magnet. The inherent charm and natural beauty of Florida are once again under threat. He incorporated his love for Florida in his second manuscript and continues to champion a Florida that once existed years ago before it is all lost.
Thomas has one more nonfiction manuscript in progress that he looks forward to publishing. It is his most provocative work so far. It follows three world events that led to Dallas, Texas, in November 1963:
Stay tuned for its release sometime in late 2026.
